Blah Blah Blah Phonics Card Game is a highly effective card game that helps kids master phonics. Its also a TON of fun. Its effectively UNO for reading. If you have a child who is learning to read or improving their skills, this is a great game to get them practicing.

 

Guess in 10- Animal Planet

Guess in 10 is our new family favorite. There are a handful of versions for this game and each one packs in the learning. We all love learning with the Animal Planet and Under the Sea games!

 

Dominos & Juliette - Dominos Set

I always keep this set in my bag for when my oldest daughters get bored when we are at restaurants or sitting through sibling’s sports practices. The Domino & Juliette Dominos Set comes with 28 double-six dominos with color dots. Stacking and sorting the dominos taps into hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills and number sense. Genius Star

Genius Star is a family board game that includes fitting uniquely shaped puzzle pieces onto a star-shaped grid. It encourages logic, problem-solving, and critical thinking. Our family loves it!

 

Hungry Hungry Hippos

I must include this classic game because it’s a good one to play with toddlers…and older kids still find it enjoyable. The Hungry Hungry Hippos game includes 4 hippo heads that want to chomp down on as many marbles as possible, including the golden marble.

 

Sorry!

Another classic and favorite in our house is Sorry! If you don’t have it, add it to your collection this holiday season.

Trouble is another family friendly game that shouldn’t be overlooked!

 

Storytime Chess

Storytime Chess is the perfect beginner chess game for young learners. No chess experience is required! It includes over 30 mini games that enhance your story journey.

 

Tenzi Buildzi

Tenzi Buildzi is the fast-stacking, building block game that is fast and easy to learn. Up to 8 players can participate but my kids also like playing solo.

 

Connect Four

My kids play Connect 4 all the time independently (i.e. without me!!!!)

 

Twister

Don’t fret about Twister! Not only does it involve problem solving and critical thinking, but it challenges your balance and gets you moving!

 

Perfection

Perfection is a fast-paced kids’ game where you must race against the clock to place puzzle pieces on the tray before the puzzle tray pops the pieces out. Santa brought it last year and I hadn’t seen it since childhood. My kids love it.

 

Rapid Rumble

Rapid Rumble is a 2-5 player game that turns into a lot of laughs for my crew! You roll the dice, set the timer, and quickly shout out answers for the categories. The goal is to be the first one to finish your deck of letter cards. There are 120 category cards and 100 letter cards. Some of the cards are tough for my younger learners but they end up getting silly which makes it even more of a favorite!

 

Sleeping Queens

Sleeping Queens is a card game I’ve featured often in my stories. My kids have three favorite card games, and this is one of them…I enjoy it too!

 

Rat a Tat Cat

The second of three card games my kids are obsessed with it Rat a Tat Cat.  The game helps develop timing and basic math skills and can be played and enjoyed from pre-K to adult.

 

Harry Potter Uno

Finally, we can’t forget UNO! Harry Potter Uno is a fun variation of the classic that my crew loves.

 

Tiny Polka Dot

Tiny Polka Dot includes 16 easy-to-learn games that help kids learn mathematical skills. It teaches counting, arithmetic, and logic. I’ve reviewed this one before, I think it’s great and my kids enjoy playing!

 

Super Genius Multiplication 1

We love all Super Genius variations. It’s like Spot-It mixed with flashcards! We have multiplication, addition and reading variations.

 

Check The Oven - Melon Rind

Check the Oven is a math game for adding to 12. The object of the game is to collect the most sets of 12 while avoiding the Dropped Pie cards. The 5 different games are fun for all!

 

Shut the Box

Shut the Box is fun for all ages! It is a 2-4 player game that enhances math and decision-making skills. It is a classic dice game that is easy to learn and great for practicing basic math facts.

 

Jump 3 - Melon Rind

Another Melon Rind card game, Jump 3 is a fun one for kids learning to skip count. In this game, everyone is getting rid of cards if it is 3 more or 3 less than the previous card!

 

Clumsy Thief - Melon Rind

Clumsy Thief by Melon Rind is a money game that is perfect for those learning addition and starting to understand place value and money!

 

Spot It!

Spot It! is a classic card game for 2-8 players. The goal is to find matching symbols or pictures in common with the other cards in the deck. Throw this in your bag for on-the-go fun!

 

Kids on Stage

Kids on Stage is a charades game for 2 or more players. It comes in a travel tin, so it is great for on-the-go fun! It encourages all players to be creative and develop differing communication skills. They also offer a board game version but we prefer the travel one!

 

Five Crowns

My parents got us hooked on this game that’s suitable for older children and adults too. Now my oldest daughter has learned to play and requests to play this addictive card game constantly
